Magnetic Movements
Magnetic Movements (2016-2020) is an interactive art installation based on movement, play, and dance.
The installation consists of a 4x4ft wood and plexiglass platform that has iron filings encased throughout. Strangers wandering by our encouraged to strap on magnetic shoe attachments and given 1 instruction: Play. Given the freedom to explore and play in a way they usually would not, strangers draw, dance, and interact in a close proximity. This installation mimics the intimate interactions strangers receive while partner dancing. Light sensitive paper records the moments from below in large-scale prints, serving at maps of movement, memories, and intimate moments.
49 Empty Spaces
49 Empty spaces (2017) is a project that took place to remember and honor the 49 victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Florida. A series of work was made depicting 49 empty seats, representing the 49 individuals that lost their lives in the hate crime. Two versions of the work were made - one as a woodcut and one as a mixed media painting.
